Colorado Floods as seen from Space

Our friends in Colorado have been suffering under some horrific conditions over the last week or so.  Those of us not under the survival gun probably don't have a good perspective of the magnitude of the disaster.  The images from the national news shows a lot of water and a lot of destruction, but it doesn't do a good job of showing how many people are effected by the disaster.

The following story from NASA's Earth Observatory, and accompanying images show just how extensive the damage is.  The before and after pictures show the South Platte river as it passes Greeley and flows northeast toward Nebraska.

As you look at these images please keep those in harms way in your thoughts and prayers.  The clean up effort will take a LONG time.
